Consider Gifts and Bequests in your Estate Planning and in preparing your will.
The day comes when you must plan the disposition of your estate. No matter how large or small your estate may be, it is one that you have spent much of your adult life to accumulate and therefore entitles you to be the one to make disposition of your estate. Otherwise, with no will, state laws will decree to whom your property will pass, after state and federal taxes have been deducted and your debts have been paid.
PLANNING
Now is the time to make those plans by making a will and determining how you want your estate disposed of. You have spent your life making those decisions concerning your finances and the safeguards of your estate which have enabled you to have an estate and now your planning will determine its disposition.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS
One of the possibilities for distributing your estate is to consider giving a portion of it to
non-profit charitable institutions as permitted by our tax laws and which permits you to take advantage of tax deductions allowed by law. By contributing to a non-profit charitable institution. such as the York Cross of Honour Medical Research Foundation, you are determining the future of at least a part of your estate and may also greatly reduce the amount of Federal and State estate taxes.
THE YORK CROSS OF HONOUR, MEDICAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION
The York Cross of Honour Medical Research Foundation supports research for causes, prevention and treatment of cancer and in particular treatment of Melanoma. As a partner in the progress against Melanoma and research projects that will eventually benefit patients with melanoma an annual contribution is made by the York Cross of Honour Medical Research to Norris Cotton Cancer to help provide financial assistance in finding ways to combat this disease. Your
consideration of this important support of research and treatment by remembering it in
your estate planning will permit the Foundation to be of even greater help.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT
Your financial help and support in seeing this program continue can be made possible by your gifts and bequests. Whether it be by gifts during your life designating the York Cross of Honour Medical Research Foundation as a beneficiary in a life insurance policy or gifts of cash. stocks or bonds or a testamentary or charitable remainder trust or a bequest in your will to the Foundation it will assure you that the property you have accumulated during your life will go to those you want to benefit upon your death as well as having a favorable impact on estate taxes and the amount your heirs will receive.
PLAN NOW
Now is the time to make plans for distribution of your estate. We suggest that you confer with your attorney and others that can give you legal advice and assist you in your estate planning and that you give favorable consideration to making The York Cross of Honour Medical Research Foundation and the fight against cancer a beneficiary of your estate. Remember. a gift by will is easy to do and the gift is not given until you no longer need the money. The gift will demonstrate your compassion and concern for cancer patients and the combat of this killer disease.
